Vacation Rerun: Going My Way

Fr. Gordon J. MacRae, These Stone Walls, priesthood ordination, Going My Way, Bing Crosby

This last of TSW’s “Hiatus Highlights” first appeared during Lent last year, but “Going My Way” also recalled the day I was ordained, 5 June 1982. As I prepare to celebrate my 29th anniversary of priesthood ordination, I decided to re-visit “Going My Way.”
I suppose the real reason for this is that absolutely nothing in my life or priesthood has ever gone my way! That fact had much less sting when I came to see that we are passengers, and not conductors, on this train of life. Things don’t have to be going my way for priesthood to manifest itself even in dark places.
I hope you’ll like having a second look at this post, and maybe even another visit to the great Bing Crosby film of the same title.

Father – late in catching up with you… belated congratulations on the anniversary of your ordination. You are accomplishing a great deal of priestly work – among many of us who are inspired by your courage and faith, and at the same time I am sure among your fellow inmates. Do not despair. Know that you are moving mountains for those of us who are on the outside looking in!

We are praying for you through the intercession of Bl. Jerzy.

Rerun or not, this is your usual weekly homerun. Please keep writing.

Fr.Gordon:
We all will celebrate with you your ordination anniversary this
Sunday, June 5th.
Let’s thank God and praise Him for your acceptance to answer
His call to share in Jesus’s priesthood and to be crucified, as you
are. You have been, and still are, a source of grace to us, your
flock and admirers.
Te Deum laudamus Te.
Pierre

Revisiting this post has reminded me of what a gift it has been for me to find Father G’s blog. Truth cannot be defeated but it can be betrayed . Father G was offered freedom in return for the betrayal of Truth. His suffering is saving many souls and strengthening the weak faith of others like myself.Jesus warned us these times would come and there is no need to fear but a great need to pray and live the faith heroically as doFather G and Pornchai and many others who face persecution and unjust treatment
